I spent the last day of 2012 at Disney, so unfortunately I was unable to thank dA for the Daily Deviation yesterday! Well... not "unfortunately" really, because I was like, at Disney. And that was pretty cool. But still! Anyhow, it was for this piece:

Which I agree, was a nice illo to ring in the new year. Thank you everyone for the nice comments and thank you to ^JCROXAS for featuring it. Also hello to you new guys! My gallery is primarily full of similarly cute stuff. I have a weak affinity for that sort of thing. :)
Just wanted to wish everyone a super fun-filled holiday as we pummel our way into 2013 in which we finally will get a new Star Trek movie and the rest of Doctor Who season 7. Yay!

I'm very happy to say I successfully made my goal/deadline to finish drawing my first graphic novel by the end of the year. Now it's going to be half year of coloring the dang thing. BUT, I don't expect that to be quite as time invasive as the drawing side so hopefully that means I won't be so absent from these parts next year. Looking forward to seeing what you all have in store for me!
For ONE weekend only--THIS weekend--I am putting all of my superhero and Adventure Time prints back in my online store. This includes all those Batgirl/Supergirl comics that the kids seem to enjoy. Makes great Christmas presents (or so I want you to believe)! After Sunday, November  25th, I'll be taking them all back down making my convention appearances the only other chance you'll have to get these prints. All prints come signed.

And remember, all my dA watchers get 20% off when they enter code DA-20 during checkout! Thank you so much for all of your love and support this past year!

Just a quick not to let you all know I decided to run a sale in my online store this month. For a limited time, all books and prints are 25% off when you enter code OCT12 at checkout! [link]

Also, still working on that graphic novel. In fact I'll be working on it forever. So apologies about not having any new art and/or timely responses to each of your lovely comments. I did my best to go though and thank a bunch of you this morning though!

I do think I have a couple things coming out this fall though, so maybe I'll be a bit louder in the next few weeks.
Thanks to all those who stopped by at Baltimore Comic-Con last weekend! It was a great show and I made a lot of fun new memories. If some of you have never had a chance to make it, I'd definitely make an effort for next year. It's one of the best.

I posted the few sketches i did over at Cleopatra in Space for those interested. I'd post em' here but they were all taken with my phone so they aren't the best quality. [link]

Also, sorry about being so quiet around these parts lately. I've been working on a graphic novel (as well as a few other things) which is pretty much taking up all my extra time. I should have some fun stuff to share with you all in the coming months though!
I will be at Baltimore Comic-Con this weekend, September 8th-9th at the Baltimore Convention Center. Once again I'll be sharing space with some of the best kid and all-ages comic creators in the business at the Kids Love Comics pavilion- Booth 2403. Map and info below.

Along with Heroes Con, BCC is one of the best kid-friendly shows on the east coast and there's going to be a lot of events and activities going on. So if you have children, make sure to bring them by. My attendance was something of a last minute thing, but hopefully I can squeeze in some sort of activity or demonstration as well. Maybe show the kids how to draw space cats or sumthin. At any rate, should be a fun time and I look forward to seeings some of you there!
Remember all those Adventure Time drawings I drew back in April? [I put them all below these paragraphs just in case you don't.] Good news! The original drawings for each of them are now up for bid! Proceeds go to helping me pay bills and taking care of a loving supportive family (well, the wife is loving... the baby is kinda needy actually).

I'm selling all nine as a set. And with prints of each of them included. Help me spread the word! Or bid on them, which would be even better. :)

Just wanted to give a quick thanks to everyone who stopped by my table at Heroes Con over the weekend! I had a fantastic time (as is par with the show) and was floored by the amount of people who follow Cleopatra in Space. I mean, it's cool that people love my Batgirl & Supergirl or my Adventure Time art, but there's a certain thrill about having someone excited about your own creation. One young girl said she had been waiting FOREVER for the second Cleo book (which, being a year between cons, is not far off). Kids are the best.

Anyhow, if you're interested in such things, I posted a few sketches I did during the show on my CiS blog: [link]

If yours isn't there it's not because I didn't like it. I just forgot to take a picture of it is all. Hope to see a bunch of you next year!
Heroes Con is this weekend! And I'll be there surrounded by friends (as the awesome map* below) indicates.

Robert Wilson IV : AA-529
Mike Maihack : AA-530
Jason Horn : AA-531
Dean Trippe : AA-532
Joel Carroll : AA-533

Hope to see you there!

*This map is in no way a slight toward the multitude of other awesome creators at the show. Especially those in rows 700 and 800. Sorry to cover you up, guys.
A couple of interviews with me went up today.

For those more interested in my comic CLEOPATRA IN SPACE, I talk all about it (its origin, influences, where it's going) over at NEWSARAMA: [link]

And for those more interested in well, ME, I was interviewed by the game designer of Goblins Drool, Faeries Rule about just that (my humble beginnings as an artist, why I seem to be drawn toward female characters, some of my favorite GDFR cards). That's over at the GDFR Kickstarter site: [link]

And for those interested in all those things, you can read BOTH those interviews! I think there's some fun, new tidbits in each of them.

I've gotten a few questions about the Goblins Drool, Fairies Rule! art book that's currently part of the Kickstarter campaign. I was about to do my best to answer what I knew about it when I found out David Sanhueza (the game's creator) had already answered those questions for you! Here's what he had to say:

"The Art Book will be 8.25"x10.75" hardcover case wrapped. It will feature all of the artwork from the game, including full-page color images and preliminary sketches. There will also be step-by-step images so you can see how Mike creates his illustrations. On top of all that, there will be behind-the-scenes commentary and interviews with myself and Mike. We can share more info as the book comes together. The PDF version is due to be ready by August, and the hardcover version ready to ship with the game later this year."

It will also feature some *ahem* discarded and alternate illustrations from the game- like deleted scenes. So pretty much the ultimate blu-ray collector's edition of Goblins Drool, Fairies Rule!--well, minus the game.

Right now there's only 9 days left to get in on the backing! So I you want a book, don't delay. And remember, the original drawings for all the GDFR cards are also part of the rewards. Only two drawings have been claimed so far.

My ongoing webcomic, Cleopatra in Spaaace!, made it's explosive return today along with a newly redesigned site. Read it here! [link]
Any recent drawings you guys would like to see as prints? Compiling a new order this weekend.

My prints are generally 8x10 or 11x14 depending on the image, and printed professionally on archival gloss-stock.
Thanks for all the wonderful birthday wishes and llamas yesterday, friends! :)
The company I'm drawing all those fairies and goblins I started posting just launched a Kickstarter for the game and rewards include a hardcover art book and the original pencil art for all 40 of the cards I'm drawing for it! The game looks really fun and could use your support, so if you're interested, consider backing and/or spreading the word. Thanks! [link]

So this person here took one of my drawings, erased my name, and put theirs on it instead. Didn't even bother to redraw it. How lazy. [link]

Here's the original (aka mine): [link]

Looks like I'm not the only artist he's been stealing work from as well. I filled out the "Report Deviation" link below the statistics, but if anyone knows a better way to send this guy to the Ice Kingdom (or to encourage him to draw his own work) let me know. Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks for all the help and reporting, everyone! Looks like the stolen piece got taken down. However, also looks like his account is still active so be vigilant. Especially if you draw Adventure Time art.
Oh hey! After only about 2 years on here, I just noticed I surpassed 50,000 pageviews. I think that's pretty good! Anyhow, thanks everyone for checking out my work. Really enjoy this community. :)
Nothing really to say here. Just needed a new journal entry to push out that auction one. Thought I'd take the opportunity to just give a big THANKS to all of you for all the nice comments and favorites and watching and whatnot. And for all the art you guys are posting as well! Always so nice to log in to DA to find so much love and creativity. Keeps me inspired. Keep it up!
Like the journal title says! In an effort to be a healthy financial provider for my son, I've put the original art for my last two Batgirl/Supergirl comics up for bid on eBay. Auctions end 8PM EST. [link]

I rarely sell original art so this is a good opportunity to get something of mine if you're interested. Both pages also include a full-color print of the final comic, which I guess is also something of a rarity now that I'm no longer selling those online.
