Hahaha. This made me recall a scene from Sandman: Season of Mists. A princess of chaos gave Dream a balloon and he looked just as funny and absurd as Batman in this picture. :)

Okay, you might hate me for this, but this really reminds me of the Midnighter.
He's another DC hero (originally Wildstorm universe) and he's actually a Batman analogue with superpowers and a boyfriend who's a Superman analogue. In the Wildstorm design, Midnighter uses balloons to contact his husband (who now has to stay up above a smog covered earth to stay alive (solar powers)) every now and then.
